As Kings Heath BID arrives at the half-way point of our ballot to take us into the next five years, the Board of Directors are pleased to announce two new members of the Board.
Faith Pope, owner of Enki Giftshop on the High Street and Frank Nutt, owner of the Sewing Machine Shop on Poplar Road have both been approved as Directors since the publication of the BID’s new business plan this September.
Frank rejoins the Board after a hiatus of four years, and for Faith it is a first opportunity to get directly involved with the BID.
Frank has re-joined the Board as he feels that Kings Heath’s is well placed to thrive in an ever-changing retail environment.
“The BID is in a good position to support and listen to the local businesses, in the hope that we can all work together for the good of our high street,” he said.
Asked why she wanted to join the Board of Directors, Faith said “I had been thinking about joining the BID for some time. I went to the business plan launch and was convinced. I’d heard about how good the BID had been historically and could see how it could get back to that, and liked the idea of being a part of it. I think the community aspect of being a shopkeeper is really important but is sometimes a bit lacking around here for some reason. I think the BID could be a really great way of bringing all the shopkeepers together to try to make Kings Heath an even better place!”
Current BID Chair, Jon Jaffa, said “as our high street continues to evolve, it is great to be able to bring fresh faces and new ideas into the BID Board. Whilst we have had to sadly say goodbye to Alvydas from Black Lab, we wish him well for the future and we are sure that, as we continue to strengthen the Board, these new Directors will bring a new energy to the BID as we hopefully head into a fourth term.”
The BID is run by a voluntary Board of Directors, all of whom pay (or will pay) the BID levy, or who pay a voluntary membership fee. The company has provision for a maximum of 15 Directors and there are currently five vacancies on the Board.
