The February Half Term is almost here and there is plenty happening in the Heath! Our independents have a whole host of holiday fun for you, no matter how you want to spend your days off.

What’s On
Getting in just before the Half Term begins, the Kings Heath Library is hosting a Pop Up Bookstart Storytime on Friday 17th February, starting at 10:15am. The event is for children aged 1 – 2 and will feature storytelling, fun with bubbles and a special Bookstart pack to take home. Like all library events, this is free but booking is required, contact the library here to book your place.
The children’s bookshop on York Road, How Brave is the Wren has two events for you this Half Term. On Wednesday 22nd February, you can stop into the shop from 10am – 5pm to enjoy free story creation and story writing activities.
And on Thursday 23rd February at 11am, the bookshop will be hosting a very special author event. Sarah Todd Taylor, author of “Alice Éclair, Spy Extraordinaire” will be reading the book from her new series. A signed copy of her books will also be available. The cost for the event is £2 per child. Book your ticket now.
Throughout February Half Term, Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre will be hosting Splash sessions, Soft Play & Inflatable sessions, swimming crash courses, dance classes, football sessions, free workout classes and more. Book your spot with them here.
Where to Eat
Cosy Café has a laid back atmosphere and a menu filled with breakfast and lunch classics. For Half Term, the cafe on the high street is also offering a free kids meal when an adult meal is ordered.
A brand new opening, Chickanos is a great spot for a special family meal out this Half Term. Offering burgers, grilled and fried chicken, salads, wraps and sides. There’s something for everyone to try and who knows you might just find your new favourite Kings Heath restaurant.
Another new opening, Caribbean and Cocktails is one for the parents. Book a table with the restaurant on Poplar Road and enjoy Caribbean inspired dishes like Jerk Chicken and a selection of classic cocktails.
The spot that’s impossible not to post about, Milkcake Man has incredible sweet treats and drinks available in a bright beautiful setting. Enjoy an indulgent french toast breakfast or a signature milkcake!
Plant ‘N’ Plate is a plant-based cafe on the high street that is a must visit for everyone, not just vegans. With a bright, natural setting filled with plants and greenery as well as a menu that suits a quick stop or a sit-down lunch, make sure to add Plant ‘N’ Plate to your half term to-do list.
Try Something New
Kings Heath has been lucky to welcome a host of new businesses to the area, this includes Bubbleland, a brand new bubble tea shop. Tucked away on the corner of Bank Street and the High Street, the shop offers a wide variety of fruit and milk teas as well as original smoothie flavours. Have you ever tried a Mango smoothie with Cheese foam? Stop into Bubbleland to try it for yourself!
Class Act Theatrix has acting, singing and dancing classes for your little one to enjoy. Explore the website to see the classes available, from the Tuesday Acting Academy to the Friday and Saturday Act-Dance-Sing Academy.
The school for any young person interested in performing also has a very special February ‘Acting for TV and Film’ Half Term Workshop for ages 4 – 13. The workshop will have your little ones read, perform and film a TV or Film script, that will be screened for family at the end of the week!
