Half Term has arrived and Kings Heath has plenty going on to keep you busy every day. With Halloween just around the corner, our independents are opening their doors with themed events and activities for everyone to enjoy.

Halloween Cauldron Trail

Looking for a free, family friendly event? Look no further than the Kings Heath Cauldron Trail!

Over Half Term, Halloween potion ingredients will be on display in shop windows throughout Kings Heath. If you can find them all, you have the chance to win prizes in a special Halloween giveaway!

SeeSaw Opticians Street Spectacular

Another great free event this Half Term is SeeSaw Opticians’ Spec-tacular Street Event. 

From 10am to 6pm on Saturday 22nd October, you can join the independent on Poplar Road for a fun-packed day featuring a Bouncy Castle, Face Painting and a Live DJ! The opticians will also be showcasing exclusive brands and offering 20% off everything in the shop.

Kings Heath Library

The library is always providing the community with amazing free events and this Half Term, they didn’t disappoint. On Monday 24th and Monday 31st October, from 10:15am, they’ll be hosting special Halloween themed Book Babies and Toddler Tales events, expect spooky stories suitable for the little ones. 

On Tuesday 25th October, from 2:15 to 3:15pm, there is ghoulish and ghostly fun for Over 5s, with spooky storytelling followed by craft activities. And from Thursday to Saturday, there is more crafty fun to be had, with tables full of creepy colouring-in templates that let the family get creative this Halloween season.

How Brave is the Wren

The Children’s Bookshop on York Road will be hosting three Halloween themed events, throughout Half Term. On Thursday 27th October, from 10am, Toni Tots Drama will be dropping into the shop to perform a children’s Halloween drama, suitable for 2 – 7 year olds. Tickets are £5.

From 4pm on Friday 28th October, the bookshop will become a cinema, showing a special Colour Box programme of Autumnal short films. Tickets are £5 per child and £7.50 per family. Saturday will see How Brave is the Wren host a make-your-own-puppet workshop from 11am to 3pm, with prices at £2.50 per puppet. 

Halloween Half Term Treats

Poli

Poli are bringing two Half Term treats to the Heath this Halloween. For families, they have brought back their Kids Eat Free deal. Between 5pm – 6pm, from Tuesday to Friday, kids can grab a margherita or marinara pizza for free with a fully paying adult.

For anyone looking to get in the Halloween spirit, why not try Poli’s new Spooky Special? From Tuesday to Saturday, enjoy a special squid ink pizza with or without a spooky, ‘frozen zombie’ cocktail.

Cosy Cafe

Cosy Cafe are also offering up a kid friendly deal this Half Term. The spot on the High Street is offering a free kids meal with any fully paying adult.

Halloween Weekend Events

Schooners Bar

Get your throwing arm ready for Schooners’ Dart Tournament. The bar on York Road will be hosting the competition on Friday October 28th from 7PM. Entry is £5 per person with teams of 2 – 4 allowed to enter. 

Schooners are also welcoming GlassHouse Brewery for a tap takeover, offering specialist, locally brewed beers over the Halloween weekend, from October 28th to October 30th.

The Station

The Station has partnered with Kings Heath Food Bank and Birmingham United Sounds, for an all day event on Saturday 29th October, from 2pm until late. To be admitted, all you need to bring is a donation to the food bank and while fancy dress isn’t required, there will be prizes available for the best dressed!
