The government has updated the rules regarding the use of face coverings in England.
From 30th November, masks will be compulsory in shops and on public transport. They will also be required in post offices, banks, estate and letting agents, pharmacies, takeaways, transport hubs and driving lessons. The rules do not currently apply to hospitality.
It is hoped this will reduce the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant; these rules will be reviewed every three weeks.
More information will soon be released about the booster jab programme and who will be eligible.
It is also important to follow self-isolation rules if you develop any of these symptoms:
- A new continuous cough.
- A high temperature.
- A loss, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell.
If so, you should arrange for a PCR test, and if your test is positive, you must isolate for 10 days after the day you first developed symptoms.
We hope you have a merry and safe Christmas in Kings Heath, so we would appreciate everyone following these guidelines when working in and enjoying our amazing area.
